Ashleigh's Heirloom Dress![]() Description - This dress is constructed using pink Bearissima. Also used in this dress is French insertion and French edging lace, and Swiss entredeux. Construction - If you would like to make a dress like this you can use a basic drop waist dress pattern with short puffed sleeves. For the collar I cut a rectangle of fabric which I embellished with tucks and a strip of round thread French insertion lace. The tucks in the collar were not made using a pintuck foot, but rather were made by edge stitching 1/16" from the fold. Matching round thread French edging lace was applied flat with Swiss entredeux to the long outside edge of the collar. The two short ends were turned under with a narrow hem. The other long side was gathered and attached to entredeux and sewn around the neckline. A strip of the insertion lace was attached to the neckline entredeux and shaped to fit the neck before attaching narrow edging lace to the top edge. Here is a link to close-up view of the collar: The dress closes in the back with pearl buttons.
