Maleah's Heirloom Dress![]() Description - This is a toddlers classic French sewn heirloom dress (by machine). The dress is constructed using pink Bearissima, the creme de la creme of Swiss batistes. Also used in this dress is French insertion and French edging lace, French beading, wide Swiss insertion and entredeux.
The tiny cross stitches of pastel pink, green, blue, lavender and yellow in the Swiss insertion are gorgeous. It is attached to the dress skirt using Swiss entredeux. If you wish to purchase and use this Swiss insertion but you are not sure how to sew it, I am always available to answer your questions and help you. You can send an email and someone will get back to you. Construction - If you would like to make a dress like this you can use your favorite high to mid yoke dress pattern with short puffed sleeves such as the Heirloom Party Dress pattern. I added a little white machine embroidery on the yoke between the laces. Gathered French edging lace is attached to the Swiss
entredeux that goes around the neckline. The sleeve edges are gathered
to a strip of entredeux. Next is a row of French beading, another row
of entredeux and finally, gathered edging lace is attached. Double ribbons,
pink and blue, were used in the French beading lace. The back closes with
pearl buttons.
